The GOOD 100 Challenge: Sharing is the New Owning

Nextbigthing_maker

In the spirit of the latest edition of GOOD Magazine “The Next Big Thing”, we’re asking our community this question: How will you promote sharing in your community? The top idea will receive a $1,000 grant.

The Specifics

Sharing is making a big comeback, and in our second-ever GOOD 100, we highlight this refreshing trend. We invite you tell us how you’re improving your community by sharing, lending, or freely giving something of value to others. Whether you’re planning a clothing swap, starting a neighborhood time bank, or getting your used textbooks into the hands of some cash-strapped students, we want to help your idea succeed and accelerate its progress.

Submit your ideas here to apply for $1000 to fund your project. All ideas will be voted on by the community—so be ready to rally friends, family and colleagues behind your effort.

Individuals, groups and organizations can participate. Once projects are submitted, get out the vote by asking your community to support your project. Submissions end and voting opens on December 8th.

Submission tips:

  • Include a photo or video that represents your idea. For example: a photo of your sharing idea in action, or an image that reflects the spirit of what you’re trying to achieve
  • Photos should be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format, at least 572 × 346 pixels and no larger than 10MB.
  • Write at least 3-5 sentences that explain how the $1,000 award will bring your idea to life.

Rules & Regulations

  • The GOOD 100 Challenge is open for submissions from November 28th to December 8th.
  • Approved projects will be featured on this page, and public voting will be open from December 8th to December 15th.
  • The project with the most votes will receive $1000.
  • Submitted projects must be able to be activated with $1000.
  • Read all the rules.

The SE Portland Community Kitchen Tool Library is such an awesome idea! I am excited about all the energy behind it and looking forward to the day it opens and being able to check out some of the great hard to afford kitchen tools I desire for some of my dreamy kitchen/preserving ideas.

The creativity of these ideas is inspiring! All of them have potential to make great change in our country, reinforcing faith in the knowing that there is GOOD in each and every one of us. All 7 billion! Too bad, $1,000 can't be given away to each submission, now THAT would be the true realization of sharing in the community!
