Turns out, there are so many ways to earn money by sharing the things you own (a car, an extra room, even a blender). But what if you don’t actually need the extra money? The Share to Care Project is a way to use that pocket change to feed the homeless through collaborative consumption.
As San Francisco natives (go Giants!), we wanted to find a way to give back to our beloved city. With the money we earned by sharing our stuff (our favorite is sharing rides through Zimride), we started making food packets to pass out to the homeless. These packets are made of well-balanced, healthy, non-perishable items, plus a list of organizations dedicated to aiding the homeless.
Winning the GOOD contest would mean that Share to Care can:
*Partner with collaborative consumption companies to offer incentives for donations
*Organize more frequent distribution days to hand out packets to the homeless
*Use environmentally friendly materials to package the food
We hope to see our community engaged in sharing more and giving more.
