The Idea

What if you could whip up a batch of tomato chutney or apple butter or cranberry ginger muffins and swap the fruits of your labor for other home-produced goodies? That's the concept behind the Boston Food Swap, which hosts free monthly events where swappers share homegrown, baked, or foraged goods.

The Specifics

The Boston Food Swap began in the summer of 2011 and now attracts dozens of amateur cooks, canners, bakers, and other foodies. We’ve also hosted potluck dinners and swaps to raise money for other food-related causes. Renting event space in Boston isn’t cheap, and we want to continue growing the food swap and keeping these events financially accessible to all who love food or want to learn more about preparing their own meals.
