The Idea

Do you remember how it felt to ride a bike as a kid? Well, we want to pass along the same incredible experience in a kids summer program. The GOOD 100 funds will provide tools and supplies, including the “kids-only” bike repair box, which the kids share as they learn about bikes.

The Specifics

Sopo Bicycle Cooperative is a volunteer-run organization that provides the local bicycling community with tools, supplies, shop space, and expertise to help keep bikes in good working condition. Sopo’s mission is to make bicycle maintenance accessible and affordable. This includes a number of community outreach programs, including a summer kids program. The kids program is about providing a safe space and a mentoring environment for local youth. The summer program’s goals are to encourage team-based learning and cooperation, as well as experience in safely riding and maintaining a bike. The receipt of awards like the GOOD 100 enable Sopo to stock the shop for the kids' activities and to operate on a donations-only basis.
