Our group started off just cooking and feeding the homeless we see on the streets. Everyday we go to hand out food, we get to talk and learn everyone's stories. Everyone has different needs, most are really simple such as a food storage box, gloves, socks, a ride to the doctor, etc. ALL need a home, and those who can work want a job. This fund would allow us to spread our concept more effectively by giving us the ability to tape, edit and put interview vdo's and mini documentaries online, place ads in local/national newspapers/magazines, and send group members to join different causes to spread the message. We've been using our personal funds to feed and help the homeless and we'll continue to do so. But we can do a lot more with this help.

I would use the funds to do one massive chair bombing of Orlando Florida. The chairs are free as each and every one is rescued from the side of the road or donated by friends and neighbors, so all of the money would go towards paint, tape, and re-FAB-ilitation materials. Experience shows that mass chair bombing is more successful than periodic placing of one or two at a time.

The tool shed currently owns one working lawn mower. Rather than fixing the two broken gas mowers they have, NeighborGoods would like to purchase a new electric mower that will cost less over time on repairs and reduce emissions. Most people don’t own a drain snake, so even a simple blockage requires calling out a professional. By purchasing a drain snake we plan to save residents a substantial amount of money by helping them avoid the high cost of unnecessary plumbing bills. Finally, we would like purchase 30 pairs of gloves for use during cleanup and gardening projects to make sure our Mount Rainier neighbors are protected while they are working to make their community better and more beautiful. Mix & Match: a social mixer for apparel exchange

This project began at the Rhode Island School of Design, and due to its overwhelming success, we want to bring it to you! Now based in New York City, we are looking for funding to promote and host upcoming events with ambitions to expand to different cities. These organized events will be hosted during happy hour at local venues (bars, restaurants, cafes). The pop-up "swapshop" will function on the basis of one-to-one garment exchanges. Exchanging apparel reduces our impact on the environment (and our wallets!). By hosting initial events, we can build the social capital among participants to make this ongoing and sustainable. Come Mix&Match with us!

In the picture, you will note that our kitchen tools are currently made out of paper. A thousand dollars would help us buy equipment that we cannot otherwise get donated. We would like to offer dehydrators, cider presses, ice-cream makers, grains mills, canning equipment, pressure cookers, and more! We hope to grow the library into a community-supported kitchen where we can share our culinary skills, nourish our bodies with healthy local food, and collaborate on difficult or intensive projects.

$1000 would greatly help us set up our workshop and space and turn it into something suitable for volunteers to work in. We have space available now in an old loading dock of a Lowes behind the Christiansburg Recreation Center. The money can also be used to buy old bicycles and refurbishing tools and supplies to make them functional. The overall goal is to serve the 19% of the population in Montgomery County in Virginia who live below the poverty line. They have limited access to transportation and this is not beneficial to them because most are isolated. Transportation has proven to lower the cost of groceries, healthcare, childcare, and increase education opportunities.

As San Francisco natives (go Giants!), we wanted to find a way to give back to our beloved city. With the money we earned by sharing our stuff (our favorite is sharing rides through Zimride), we started making food packets to pass out to the homeless. These packets are made of well-balanced, healthy, non-perishable items, plus a list of organizations dedicated to aiding the homeless. Winning the GOOD contest would mean that Share to Care can: *Partner with collaborative consumption companies to offer incentives for donations *Organize more frequent distribution days to hand out packets to the homeless *Use environmentally friendly materials to package the food We hope to see our community engaged in sharing more and giving more.

Sopo Bicycle Cooperative is a volunteer-run organization that provides the local bicycling community with tools, supplies, shop space, and expertise to help keep bikes in good working condition. Sopo’s mission is to make bicycle maintenance accessible and affordable. This includes a number of community outreach programs, including a summer kids program. The kids program is about providing a safe space and a mentoring environment for local youth. The summer program’s goals are to encourage team-based learning and cooperation, as well as experience in safely riding and maintaining a bike. The receipt of awards like the GOOD 100 enable Sopo to stock the shop for the kids' activities and to operate on a donations-only basis.

In its third year of planning now, H2H is a joint effort of the IU Office of Sustainability, City of Bloomington, United Way, and Habitat for Humanity. The point of the sale is not to collect as many goods as possible, but only the ones that would otherwise occupy a landfill (not be donated to charities on their own upon student move-out). This year, hopefully with increased funding, we seek to increase Greek and off-campus collection since this is where most of our student population resides, add an educational component to volunteer work, increase the number of student volunteers, and perhaps add a general sustainability promotional event during or before the sale.

Members get to choose what they want to share with whom so they can group people as close-friends, co-workers, family, neighbors and the like. This way sharing will be more like real life. To encourage members to share more items, we believe members should have the choice to tag their items for sell, for rent, for borrow, for exchange or for giveaway! So people can share their more valuable items too. Since we are two Software Developers we did not spend any money on development but we would like to use the funding to help us develop a phone application for it because it will make sharing much easier and real time! Our platform is free to join and we do not charge any money for any transaction. We are going live on Jan 11,2012

The shoes we collect are not only used to provide shoes for men, women and children in need, but they also help families generate captial and trade in countries where there is no hope. Soles4Souls takes the shoes you share and gives them a home to someone who desperately needs them. Also, for every dollar we raise, we can distribute a pair of shoes to someone. So, this challenge is not only a means for us to spread our message, but it represents 1000 lives, 1000 pairs of feet that given a chance through the gift of shoes could change our world. Before you vote, take a look inside your closet at the pairs of shoes that you never wear. By sharing those shoes, you could directly impact someone's life. For Good. Will you share your shoes?

We present a holistic approach to building and living in community where our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs are integrated within our model of sustainably. Resposible co-creation, talking circles, the sacred, earth building diet are just some examples within our approach. Profound awareness and a sense of "family" are experienced by all who participate. We have the funds for supplies, materials and necessary sub contracting to finish The Village and continue building and complete the Triple Dome yet, we are exploring avenues to acquire an ongoing and expansive labor force. The funds would be used to support and feed the labor force.

The Entelechy Alliance actualizes potential and growth through the vital force of positive energy exchange. The harsh realities of living homeless can make world and self prosperity seem out of reach. Our hope is to implement Homeless Wellness Events in our community. Free 1hr events will be held weekly in local parks/serene green spaces. Wellness coaches, exercise instructors and holistic teachers from the community will take part in each session (in volunteer capacity) to share their expertise with the attending homeless population. Geared toward homeless individuals and families. Open to all. Appropriated funds pay for one year park permit, mileage reimbursement for teachers, and food/health kits for distribution at the end of event.

Midway Tool Lending Library: green alleys and gardens

The neighbors of the Hamline Midway see our pilot 'Green Alley' event and our soon-to-be-formed 'Local Food Gardening Hub' are a means to facilitate community building and sustainability within our built environment. Our pilot 'Green Alley' project engaged nearly 40 volunteers and 4 trucks toting 10 loads of brush to composting over a 5 hour period. This event required lots of tools, including the efficient, durable, but expensive, Weed Wrench. Shared community tools such as the Weed Wrench form the basis for more community engagement and provide a nexus for neighbor making. With this grant award, the Midway neighborhood will secure garden/food production tools, set-up a tool lending library and host more community greening events.

The Boston Food Swap began in the summer of 2011 and now attracts dozens of amateur cooks, canners, bakers, and other foodies. We've also hosted potluck dinners and swaps to raise money for other food-related causes. Renting event space in Boston isn't cheap, and we want to continue growing the food swap and keeping these events financially accessible to all who love food or want to learn more about preparing their own meals.
